Ali Malek QC gives inaugural lecture of the Gray’s Inn and the City of London Working Group

Ali Malek QC presented a keynote lecture on ‘Gray’s Inn, the City and the Public Interest’ at the inaugural Gray’s Inn and City of London Law Society’s lecture on Wednesday 28th April.

The City Working Group is a cooperation between the Inn and the City, initiated as a means of fostering and developing closer ties between the Inn and City lawyers and airing common challenges.

The lecture looked at the way that the Inn and City are involved in promoting London’s position in international dispute resolution and the role of English law in the new courts around the world and the Rule of Law. Ali discussed in detail the importance of social responsibility, diversity and inclusion and considered how the role of the Inn has expanded beyond the education and training of barristers and how it might change in the virtual world post-Pandemic.

The session was moderated by Edward Sparrow, Chair of the City of London Law Society.
