Final Report to the Civil Procedure Rule Committee on amendments to service out of the jurisdiction

On 1 October 2022, CPR Part 6 and Practice Direction 6B were amended to effect comprehensive reform of the service out gateways and so the jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.

3VB’s Tom Montagu-Smith KC chaired the service sub-committee of the Civil Procedure Rules Committee which developed and recommended the amendments. The other members of the sub-committee were Mr Justice Chamberlain, Mr Justice Foxton, Mr Justice Miles, John McQuater, Paul Lowenstein KC and Sam Goodman.
