Dr Christopher Ward SC Elected Vice-Chair of the International Law Association

We are delighted to announce that 3VB Associate Member Dr Christopher Ward SC has been elected Vice-Chair of the International Law Association (ILA) by the Executive Council of the ILA.

Founded in Brussels in 1873, the ILA is dedicated to “the study, clarification and development of international law, both public and private, and the furtherance of international understanding and respect for international law.”

On his appointment, Dr Ward said, “At a time when the rule of law faces increasing pressure around the world, the ILA’s role has never been more vital. The Association brings together leading public and private international lawyers to shape new frameworks for the peaceful resolution of international disputes and to clarify the existing principles of international law. Clear articulation of international legal rules is essential – not only to expose breaches, but also to support States striving to uphold the international legal order.”
