Insights from the East: Trends and Observations from China Related Disputes

We are pleased to host this breakfast session in conjunction with HKIAC during London International Disputes Week, where our panellists will share the latest trends and observations in handling China-related disputes.

Drawing on their extensive experience acting in arbitrations involving Chinese parties, panellists will share their views on the common types of disputes seen in the region, the sectors from which they’re arising, and ways to navigate the possible challenges that can arise.

You will also hear the institutional perspective from HKIAC, which has unparallelled experience in administering disputes between Chinese and non-Chinese parties.  Joanne Lau, Secretary General, HKIAC, will provide an update on the use of the reciprocal arrangement on the interim measures application, and introduce HKIAC’s 2024 Administered Arbitration Rules, which come into effect 1 June 2024.

The speakers:

  • Tony Dymond, Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton
  • Judy Fu, Barrister, 3 Verulam Buildings
  • Matthew Gearing KC, Barrister and Arbitrator, Fountain Court Chambers
  • Joanne Lau, Secretary-General, HKIAC
