Jordan English joins 3VB as Associate Member

3VB is delighted to announce that Dr Jordan English has joined Chambers as an Associate Member.

Jordan is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford and a Tutorial Fellow at Magdalen College, where he lectures in Contract Law to undergraduates and teaches Commercial Remedies and Restitution of Unjust Enrichment on the BCL/MJur. He also teaches Land Law and A Roman Introduction to Private Law, and has taught Trusts and Tort.

Jordan’s research spans the breadth of private law, with particular expertise in contract law, property law, restitution of unjust enrichment, commercial remedies, and asset recovery. He is the author of Discharge of Contractual Obligations (Oxford University Press, 2025), awarded the 2025 SLS Peter Birks Prize for Outstanding Early Career Scholarship. He is also co-author of The Law of Tracing (Federation Press, 2021). His work on asset recovery has extended into the study of proceeds of crime laws, culminating in the co-authored text Federal Proceeds of Crime Law (Thomson Reuters, 2024).

Jordan’s scholarship has been cited widely by leading courts, including the United Kingdom Supreme Court, the High Court of Australia, the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia, the Commercial Court of England and Wales, and the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands.

He holds a DPhil in Law and a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from the University of Oxford. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I, Medal) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of Queensland. Prior to his academic career, Jordan worked as a solicitor in dispute resolution at King and Wood Mallesons and served as a Judicial Associate to Justice James Edelman at the High Court of Australia.

Jordan is an Academic Fellow of Middle Temple, an academic member of the Chancery Bar Association, and a governor of Magdalen College School, Brackley. He was the Des Voeux Chambers Oxford-HKU Visiting Fellow at the University of Hong Kong in 2025 and will be the Cheng Yu Tung Residence Fellow in 2026.
