Philip Hinks KC and Timothy Killen KC sworn in as King’s Counsel

The members and staff at 3VB extend their warm congratulations to Philip Hinks KC and Timothy Killen KC, who have been sworn in as King’s Counsel today by the Lord Chancellor at a ceremony at Westminster Hall.

Called in 2008, Philip is recognised for his expertise in high-value, complex commercial and civil fraud disputes, financial services, and insolvency matters. He regularly appears in major domestic and international litigation, and has been consistently praised in leading legal directories for his forensic advocacy and strategic insight.

Timothy, who joined 3VB in 2025, specialises in commercial disputes and international arbitration. Tim’s practice spans insurance and reinsurance, financial services, energy, and construction sectors, and he is widely recognised in the legal directories for his exceptional commercial law knowledge and international litigation experience.

The award of King’s Counsel is for excellence in advocacy in the higher courts. It is made to advocates who have rights of audience in the higher courts of England and Wales and have demonstrated the competencies in the Competency Framework to a standard of excellence.
