Two new Associate Members for 3VB
3VB is very pleased to have gained two new Associate Members, Nania Owusu-Ankomah and Madeline Kimei.
Nania Owusu-Ankomah is a Partner at first-tier Ghanaian law firm Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah. She regularly advises and represents clients in a range of high value litigation and arbitration disputes. She sits as an arbitrator in both domestic and international arbitrations in institutional and ad hoc proceedings and has been appointed as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator by the LCIA, ICC and Ghana Arbitration Centre. She is President of the LCIA Africa Users’ Council and is a member of the LCIA Court. Nania is Chair of the Ghana Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the English Commercial Bar (COMBAR) Africa Committee. She has been recognised by the Africa Arbitration Academy as a Trailblazer in International Arbitration (2024), as one of Africa’s 30 Most Promising Arbitration Practitioners (2022) and as one of Africa’s 50 Most Promising Arbitration Practitioners (2020). She is a lecturer in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Ghana School of Law.
Madeline Kimei is an independent arbitrator, adjudicator & practicing ADR Counsel in Tanzania. She founded a boutique arbitration practice, iResolve, in 2014. She provides arbitration/ADR consultancies, represents parties in domestic commercial arbitration and or acts as arbitrator, commercial mediator, and arbitral secretary in both domestic & international arbitrations under the TIArb, KIAC, UNCITRAL, EDF 1990, CRCICA and ICC Rules. Madeline serves on several panels including ICSID Panel of Conciliators; Chairperson for Arbitrations, European Commission, AAA-ICDR ICANN Independent Review Panel and the SADC-AFSA; SHIAC, HKIAC and BIAMC.
Madeline is currently the President of the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators (TIArb). She recently completed 2 terms as a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration during which she served on the ICC Africa Commission, the ICC Commission on Arbitration & ADR and the ICC Vision 2030/2050 Working Group. She is a member of the LACIAC Court of Arbitration, LCIA Africa User’s Council, SIAC Africa User’s Council and Director at the Tanzania Int’ Arbitration Centre.
Madeline was awarded the Tanzania 2019 Top 50 Women in Management Award; finalist for the Innovation in Arbitration, Africa Arbitration Awards (EAIAC-2019) and an awardee of the Top 50 Most Promising Young Arbitration Practitioner’s Award 2020; 2021 Africa Arbitration Academy top 100 Tanzanian changemakers; Superheroes-Heroes – Influencers – Disruptors (SHID) and have received the 2023 ADR Stakeholders Recognition Award from the Judiciary of Tanzania, Mediation Centre.
These appointments will further elevate 3VB’s profile and expertise in important African jurisdictions, and complement 3VB’s International Advisory and Dispute Resolution Unit, which regularly provides capacity building and pro bono/quasi pro bono assistance to State Attorneys and practitioners across African states.
