Underrepresented Groups Invited to Pupillage Workshop on 17 June
3 Verulam Buildings, Blackstone Chambers, Brick Court Chambers, Essex Court Chambers, Fountain Court Chambers and One Essex Court Chambers are delighted to invite all current mentees in the Mentoring for Underrepresented Groups scheme to attend a virtual pupillage workshop on Thursday 17 June from 6pm to 8pm.
The workshop will be hosted by the six sets of chambers participating in the 2020-21 scheme. Following an introduction from Mr Justice Saini, the workshop will comprise talks and panel discussions which aim to cover every aspect of the pupillage application process, including (among other topics) what to do to build your CV; how best to approach pupillage application forms; and tips for pupillage interviews. There will be time to ask any questions of the members of chambers in attendance.
It is hoped that the workshop will offer an invaluable opportunity to any mentees in the scheme to learn more about the process of applying for pupillage.
Please note that attendance at the workshop is, unfortunately, limited to current mentees in the Mentoring for Underrepresented Groups scheme for 2020-21.
The mentoring scheme aims to support and encourage individuals from groups which are underrepresented at the Bar of England and Wales (and in particular the commercial bar) to pursue careers as barristers. Those underrepresented groups include women; people from minority ethnic backgrounds; people with disabilities; LGBT+ people; people who spent time in care; and people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. For more information about the scheme, please see here.
Details of the 2021-22 scheme will be announced in due course.
