Practice Overview
Diana became a member of Chambers after successfully completing pupillage in October 2024. Prior to coming to the Bar, Diana worked as a research assistant on the Law Commission’s digital assets project. Accordingly, she has a particular interest in the legal aspects of cryptoassets and emerging technologies more generally.
Diana was a judicial assistant to Lord Justice Floyd and Lady Justice Andrews in the Court of Appeal. In this role, she was exposed to cases in various areas such as financial services, private international law and planning.
Diana holds a Bachelor of Laws from University College London (First Class Honours) and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics (Distinction). Throughout her studies, she participated in multiple mooting competitions and was part of the first UK team to win an award for best memorandum at the Vis International Arbitration Moot. Diana also worked at UCL’s Integrated Legal Advice Clinic, where she assisted with welfare benefits appeals.
Diana also speaks Romanian (native) and French (intermediate).
Banking & Financial Services
- Successfully represented banks in county court proceedings in claims alleging unfair relationships arising out of consumer credit agreements, including cross-examination (as sole counsel)
- Standard Chartered v Guaranty Nominees [2024] EWHC 2605 (Comm): assisted with research and preparation for trial in a test case concerning whether an alternative rate could replace LIBOR in the calculation of a floating rate dividend (as a pupil)
- Prepared an advice on the merits of pursuing a claim against a bank arising out of an authorised push payment fraud (as a pupil)
- Drafted a letter of claim for the return of payments made by a bank under fraudulent cheques (as a pupil)
- Adams v Options UK Personal Pensions LLP [2021] EWCA Civ 474: an appeal about the liability of an unregulated SIPP introducer (as a judicial assistant)
Civil Fraud & Asset Tracing
- Assisted with advising a potential defendant to claims in knowing receipt and dishonest assistance against the recipient of moneys misappropriated from a company by a former employee (as a pupil)
- Assisted with research in a contemplated claim to reopen a judgment obtained by fraud (as a pupil)
- Bilta v NatWest Markets plc [2021] EWCA Civ 680: a claim in dishonest assistance and fraudulent trading arising out of a VAT carousel fraud scheme (as a judicial assistant)
Commercial Dispute Resolution
- Assisted with drafting particulars of claim in a cross-border claim for repayment of a USD 1 million loan, where the jurisdiction of the English Courts was in issue (as a pupil)
- Stephenson Harwood LLP v Medien Patentverwaltung AG [2020] EWCA Civ 1743: an appeal concerning whether a defendant to a stakeholder claim had submitted to the jurisdiction of the English Courts (as a judicial assistant)
Company & Insolvency Law
- The Hut Group v Zedra Trust [2024] EWCA Civ 158: assisted with research in the pending Supreme Court appeal concerning limitation periods applicable to unfair prejudice petitions (as a pupil)
- An unfair prejudice petition alleging breaches of duty against a director and shareholder of a company (as a pupil)
Cryptoassets & Digital Assets
- Contributed, as a research assistant, to the Law Commission’s Digital Assets project, which considered private law aspects of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies
International Trade & Transport
- Assisted in a claim involving bills of exchange used in an international shipment of goods (as a pupil)
- Drafted an opinion in a claim about the construction of a term of an aircraft lease providing for accelerated repayment of rent (as a pupil)
