Natalie Reid
Practice Overview
Natalie L. Reid is an Associate Member at 3VB. She joined from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where she was a partner in the International Dispute Resolution Group and co-chair of the Public International Law Group and Caribbean practice. A dual Jamaican-U.S. national, she has practised in international arbitration and public international law for over twenty years. Her practice at 3VB includes sitting as an arbitrator in international commercial and investment treaty disputes, and acting as counsel and advocate in public international law matters.
Ms. Reid has served as an international arbitrator for nearly a decade, having been appointed as chair, sole arbitrator, or co-arbitrator under the rules of leading arbitral institutions. She is a Board Member of the London Court of International Arbitration, a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, and a Vice-Chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. She also serves on the Privileges and Immunities Advisory Group of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and previously served as a Counsellor of the American Society of International Law, a member of the Board of Editors of the American Journal of International Law, and President of the LCIA’s North American Users’ Council.
As counsel, Ms. Reid has represented States, international organisations, and civil society organisations before regional and international courts and tribunals around the world, including the International Court of Justice, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice. She has also advised and represented clients on international law matters before U.S. courts, including on amicus curiae submissions to the U.S. Supreme Court. Before joining Chambers, she practised as counsel for business entities, States, and international organisations in commercial, inter-State, and investment treaty arbitrations, including acting for Tethyan Copper Company in its successful treaty claims against the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Ms. Reid is consistently recognised by the leading legal directories. Among other accolades, Chambers Global 2026 ranks her as one of a handful of Global Market Leaders for Public International Law, and clients and peers describe her as “a rare gem”: “an exceptional lawyer, a sophisticated international negotiator, a trusted adviser, and a kind and considerate person,” noting she is “a great listener, very collaborative and a first class lawyer.” The Legal 500 US recommends her as a Leading Lawyer for International Arbitration, describing her as “supremely talented.” Lexology Index names her a Thought Leader for Arbitration, noting that “peers also speak highly of her expertise in public international law.”
Ms. Reid began her career as an Associate Legal Officer at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. She frequently speaks and lectures on international disputes at conferences, symposia, and law schools, and is the author or co-author of publications on international arbitration and public international law, including contributions to the ICCA Congress Book and the ICSID Review, and co-authorship of the International Criminal Law Practitioner Library (Cambridge University Press).
