Saima Hanif QC achieves rare success in DFSA Privacy Application
Saima Hanif QC acted for the applicant in one of the few successful privacy applications to the Financial Markets Tribunal (“the FMT”) in which the FMT directed that the publication of the Decision Notice be stayed until the public hearing of the reference.
It is a rare example of the FMT exercising its discretion under the Financial Markets Tribunal Rules of Procedure and the Regulatory Law 2004, to prevent the publication of the Decision Notice pending the commencement of a hearing. Saima was instructed by Stuart Walker and Sulakshana Senanayake of Afridi & Angell.
The decision is available here.
Saima has a global expertise in financial services, and is listed in the legal directories as a leading barrister in financial services in the UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific. She was commended for Barrister of the Year in the 2021 Lawyer Awards.
