The Lawyer’s Top 10 Appeals of 2026

Following last week’s Top 20 Cases for 2026, in which ten members of 3VB featured, The Lawyer has now published its Top 10 Appeals of 2026, highlighting the leading appeals due before the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in the year ahead.

Two members of 3VB feature in the list, for their involvement in the following cases:

Angel and others v Black Horse; Green and others v Close Brothers

Court of Appeal | 22 April

The Court of Appeal will consider whether thousands of “unfair relationship” motor finance claims can be brought by way of single “omnibus” claim forms. The decision is expected to have significant implications for motor finance litigation and wider civil procedure. Matthew Hardwick KC appears for the appellants Aldermore Bank and MotoNovo Finance, instructed by Eversheds Sutherland.

Privinvest Shipbuilding and others v The Republic of Mozambique

Court of Appeal | 16 June

The long-running “Tuna Bonds” litigation returns to the Court of Appeal, with Privinvest challenging the High Court’s July 2024 judgment on grounds including disclosure and limitation. Ryan Ferro appears for the Republic of Mozambique, with Essex Court Chambers’ Joe Smouha KC, Ciaran Keller KC and Akash Sonecha, instructed by Peters & Peters.
