Tom Rainsbury to Join 3VB
Members of Chambers are delighted to announce that Tom Rainsbury will join 3VB as a new tenant in January 2021.
Tom is a recognised junior in the fields of civil litigation and public law, with a particular focus on asset forfeiture, money laundering, fraud, tax, offshore entities, information and privacy law, judicial review and human rights. He is regularly instructed in a full range of civil recovery matters.
The Legal 500 2021 guide says of Tom, “He fights fearlessly for his clients in court. He is regularly instructed in heavyweight, cutting-edge cases.”
Tom has acted for the National Crime Agency in the successful upholding of the first Unexplained Wealth Order under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. This was made against Zamira Hajiyeva, the wife of the former Chairman of the Bank of Azerbaijan who spent £16m in Harrods.
Tom is a member of the Attorney General’s B Panel.
On his move to 3VB, Tom said, “I am delighted to be joining 3VB, a set with an outstanding reputation and an exceptional team of practitioners. I am excited about working with them and building on 3VB’s already tremendous expertise in my core practice areas.”
Ewan McQuater QC and Adrian Beltrami QC, Joint Heads of 3VB, said, “We are delighted that Tom has accepted the offer to join 3VB. He will be an invaluable addition to the work done by members of Chambers in the fields of civil fraud, money laundering and asset recovery. This is a growing area of work, with its crossover into public and regulatory law which in turn involves acting for major financial institutions and regulators worldwide.”
