Dubai Arbitration Week 2026

Members of 3VB will be in Dubai from 9th – 13th November for Dubai Arbitration Week 2026.
3VB’s Panel: From the Coalface: A New Era for Enforcement, Freezing Orders and Award Challenges in the DIFC?
The new DIFC Courts Law has now been in place for more than 18 months, prompting significant decisions on the Courts’ jurisdiction and powers in relation to enforcement and freezing orders. Alongside these developments, recent cases concerning challenges to arbitral awards have raised important questions about the Courts’ supervisory role. This session will take stock of both strands and their practical implications.
Chaired by His Honour Judge Pelling KC, the 3VB panel will discuss:
- Whether the decisions in Oheo Bank v Parker and Princeton v Persephone signal a shift in the Courts’ approach to challenging arbitral awards.
- The interpretation and application of the new Courts Law, including its impact on the Courts’ jurisdiction and powers.
- Differences in approach between the Conflicts of Jurisdiction Tribunal and the DIFC Courts, and the implications for parties seeking relief.
