Judgment in landmark Asda v MasterCard litigation

Judgment has today been handed down in the Commercial Court in London in the landmark Asda v MasterCard competition law damages litigation. 3VB’s Paul Lowenstein QC, leading a team of five barristers including 3VB’s Hannah Glover, acted for a consortium of leading high street retailers in their claims against MasterCard. The retailers alleged that the multilateral interchange fees levied on each MasterCard transaction were in breach of competition law. The trial of the retailers’ similar claims against Visa, in which both Paul Lowenstein QC and Hannah Glover appear, continues before another judge of the Commercial Court.
