Saima Hanif successfully acts for the Guernsey Financial Services Commission
Saima Hanif successfully represented the GFSC in enforcement proceedings against Vida Financial Services Ltd (an insurance company) and its Managing Director, Mr Wilson, for repeated contraventions of the GFSC’s regulatory framework.
This is one of the first cases where the GFSC has chosen to follow the approach of the FCA and issue a prohibition against an individual for an indefinite, as opposed to a time-limited, period. The decision is available here.
Saima is a specialist in financial services, recognised as a “fantastic lawyer” with a “high profile in the field” (Chambers & Partners). She has acted in some of the leading cases in the area and is currently sole counsel in two major FCA investigations, an enforcement action where she is representing the PRA and the widely publicised SKAT ‘dividend arbitrage’ litigation. She has represented clients in regulatory matters before the RDC, the Upper Tribunal and overseas regulatory bodies.
