The Lawyer’s Top 10 Appeals of 2025

Following their Top 20 Cases for 2025 feature last week, The Lawyer has released its feature on The Top 10 Appeals of 2025, recognising the leading matters that will appear in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in the forthcoming year.

Four members of 3VB feature across the following three cases in the list:

  • Bath Racecourse Company & Others v Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe SE, Allianz Insurance plc and Aviva Insurance Ltd
    The Bath Racecourse case, along with the Gatwick, Starboard, and Hollywood Bowl cases, represents significant legal challenges regarding COVID-19 business interruption insurance claims. 3VB’s Adam Kramer KC and William Day, act for the lead appellants/respondents Bath Racecourse Company, instructed by Stewarts partners Aaron Le Marquer and James Breese.
  • Motor finance appeal
    For the appellant, Firstrand Bank (trading as Motonovo Finance), 3VB’s Matthew Hardwick KC, instructed by Eversheds Sutherland partners Martin Ward and Chris Busby, and associate Georgina Turner.
  • Phones 4U v EE and others
    A Top 20 case from 2022, the £1bn dispute between the now defunct Phones4U and several of the country’s largest mobile networks is heading for the Court of Appeal in May. 3VB’s Hannah Glover is acting for the defendants, Vodafone and Vodafone Group, instructed by Hogan Lovells partners John Tillman, Angus Coulter and Alice Wallace-Wright, and associate Thomas Evans.
