Deputy Senior Practice Manager

Lucy is Deputy Senior Practice Manager and is responsible for the management of the silks’ team in chambers. She started her clerking career at One Essex Court in 2000, before moving to the silks’ team at Essex Court Chambers in 2007. Lucy took a career break in 2010 to raise her daughters and returned to clerking in 2017 at 3 Verulam Buildings before joining 4 Pump Court as Deputy Senior Clerk in 2019. Lucy returned to 3 Verulam Buildings in January 2022.

Lucy was recognised in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 2024, which was the first time in over a decade a clerk had been recognised in the list.  In February 2024, Lucy was shortlisted for ‘Woman in Law: Bar Champion of the Year’ at the Legal 500’s first ESG Awards.  Lucy won the award for ‘Unsung Hero in a Leadership Role’ at the inaugural Women & Diversity in Law Awards in March 2023. These awards serve to recognise exceptional individuals making the UK legal profession more diverse and inclusive.

Lucy is Chair of the Equality, Diversity and Social Mobility Committee of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks and sits on its Executive Committee. Lucy sits on the Bar Council’s Wellbeing at the Bar Working Group and Middle Temple’s Talent Retention Scheme.
